Healthcare Nursing
You will work as part of a team looking after the Wessex Region's most complex neonates and will be supported to do this by working alongside a highly skilled team whilst working collaboratively with families encompassing Family Integrated Care. UHS NICU is a cardiac and surgical centre which takes referrals from across the Wessex Region and works collaboratively with regional maternity services to ensure NHS England's 'Better Birth's' agenda is adhered to.
We are fortunate to have many exciting teams within NICU including the regional transport service (SONET), family support and psychology team, surgical specialist nurses amongst many other expert sub teams. This ensures the bedside nurses are well supported to be able to facilitate the best patient care to our vulnerable neonatal. You will work within the ITU environment to deliver high quality family centred patient care.
Part of the role will include line management and you will be allocated a team to suport and complete appraisals. There will be a robust orientation and induction programme for external candidates.
Southampton Neonatal Unit is looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly leadership team as a Band 6. We are looking for people who are dedicated to delivering high quality, family centred care and strive to make a difference to babies and their families.
- NMC-registered Nurse (Adult or Child) - active PIN required
- Completion of the QIS Neonatal Course is required
- Excellent communication, empathy, and collaboration skills
- Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, high-acuity environment
- As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated 'Good' by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.
We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme. Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London.
The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 30% lower than London and 17 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted. We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial.
Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information. The Neonatal intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the University Hospital Southampton has recently undergone an expansion, so it is an exciting time to join the team. You will be a motivated and enthusiastic person who embraces change and welcomes new opportunities.
