Machine Learning Engineer (Python) – Health & Wellbeing Startup – Hybrid – up to £100k + package

develop’s Software Engineering team have been engaged exclusively to build a brand-new product team for an innovative health and wellbeing tech startup creating a next-generation wellness platform. The product is being built from the ground up with AI and machine learning embedded at its core, alongside a privacy-first philosophy that keeps user data on-device.

This is an opportunity to join early, shape the intelligent features that define the product, and work on ML that genuinely improves people’s lives, without compromising trust or privacy.

• Build on-device machine learning models that personalise user experiences
• Work on LLM-driven features where prompt design and schemas directly impact product behaviour
• Develop AI systems where privacy is a first-class concern, not an afterthought
• Collaborate closely with iOS and Android engineers to optimise ML performance on-device
• Influence the long-term AI and personalisation strategy from day one

• Designing and testing LLM prompts and schemas for cloud and on-device AI features
• Developing on-device ML models that learn from user behaviour to personalise engagement
• Building privacy-preserving ML pipelines using Core ML and Tensor Flow Lite
• Creating intelligent features that adapt content, recommendations, and user journeys
• Working with mobile teams to optimise model performance, latency, and UX
• Contributing to prompt engineering for conversational AI experiences
• Exploring and evaluating emerging on-device LLM capabilities

• Commercial experience in machine learning model development and deployment
• Strong skills in prompt engineering and working with LLMs
• Hands-on experience with Core ML, Tensor Flow Lite, or similar on-device frameworks
• Understanding of personalisation and recommendation systems
  
  Solid experience with Python and ML tooling
• Strong interest in privacy-preserving ML techniques
• Comfortable operating in early-stage environments with high ownership
