Senior Research Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £51,000 - 63,000 per year

• Significant experience across at least two of the following areas, with deep expertise in one:
  High Performance Computing (HPC), Linux systems administration, enterprise storage platforms, high performance networking, interactive computing environments, GPU-enabled infrastructure, scientific or research computing
• Experience leading technical projects or work streams
• Experience solving complex infrastructure challenges
• Experience communicating effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• Experience producing technical documentation and delivering training
• Experience translating user requirements into scalable technical solutions

• Develop and maintain large-scale research computing infrastructure
• Support HPC environments
• Manage enterprise storage and associated services
• Work closely with researchers to understand requirements and develop effective solutions
• Contribute to infrastructure design, roadmaps and future platform development
• Lead technical work streams and small project teams when required
• Produce technical documentation, guidance and training materials
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external technology partners
• Contribute to research and funding initiatives where appropriate

We are a leading research‑led organisation supporting advanced research computing services. This is a 12‑month fixed term contract based in Hampshire on the South Coast, with hybrid working and one day onsite per week. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with researchers, technical teams and senior stakeholders, helping shape the future direction of research infrastructure while supporting projects across high performance computing, AI and data-intensive research.
