The Supply Chain Manager will join a high-performing procurement function responsible for supporting bids, projects, products and managed services activities. The role will focus on strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract management and supply chain management of supplier partners who are part of the MOD customer framework. Within the role there will be opportunity to work with a diverse range of supplier organisations, from micro companies to large global defence primes and academia.
The role is predominately downstream focused to the supply chain but there will also be MOD customer interactions.
Specific duties of the Supply Chain Manager include:
Develop and implement procurement and supply chain strategies aligned to business and programme requirements
Build, manage and develop strategic, critical and preferred supplier relationships
Undertake supplier due diligence, risk assessments, audits and supplier onboarding and development activities
Lead supplier contract negotiations, securing favourable commercial terms and managing risk
Monitor and improve supplier performance against delivery, quality, responsiveness and commercial objectives
Support cross-functional teams with supply chain expertise across bids, projects and operational activities
Support complex customer frameworks, managing multiple sourcing activities
Engage and influence internal and external stakeholders
Lead, coach and develop team members whilst promoting procurement best practice
Supply Chain Manager applicants should meet the following criteria:
Procurement Management, Supply Chain Management, Contracts Management, Supplier Relationship Management or Commercial Management experience
Experience with in a regulated procurement environment
Previous exposure to the defence industry and MOD contracting is advantageous
Comfort in a role that has both strategic and operational tasks
Influencing and strong stakeholder engagement skills
Strong negotiation skills
Full procurement lifecycle experience from; sourcing, negotiation, contract management and SRM
