A global manufacturing engineering business requires a Materials Manager to join its Supply Chain function. The Materials Manager will be responsible for linking inventory control and production efficiency, managing a stores team and acting as an SAP subject matter expert across the Supply Chain function. This is an excellent opportunity for a materials, inventory or supply chain specialist to make a significant impact on operational performance, inventory optimisation and material availability, whilst developing their leadership capability within a highly collaborative environment.
Specific duties of the Materials Manager include:
- Manage, train and motivate the Stores function ensuring accurate inventory control, replenishment and effective storage
- Ensure availability of materials and components to support manufacturing requirements
- Monitor and maintain inventory records in SAP
- Identify opportunities for inventory optimisation and continuous improvement across materials and stores
- Track and report on KPIs in relation to; inventory accuracy, material availability, release times and operational efficiencies
- Serve as an SAP subject matter expert across materials and stores - managing transactions, troubleshooting and ensuring data accuracy
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across;
Supply Chain, Procurement, Production and Logistics
Materials Management applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience in; materials management, inventory management, stores management or warehouse management
- Previous experience using SAP
- Appreciation of production workflows, material release and inventory optimisation techniques
- Leadership skills and the ability to coach, manage and develop teams
- Adopts a data-driven approach
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering, FMCG or Food environment
