About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Manual Machinist to join our expanding workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineering professional with extensive hands-on machining experience and a strong commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.

Working within a busy engineering environment, you will be responsible for the manufacture, refurbishment and repair of components to precise specifications while supporting production objectives and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, boring machines and associated workshop equipment.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation to determine machining methods and processes.
Manufacture, refurbish and repair components to exact tolerances and quality standards.
Carry out inspection and measurement activities using a range of precision measuring instruments.
Perform fault finding, diagnosis and reverse engineering activities where required.
Assist in the development of workshop tooling, fixtures and machining solutions.
Collaborate with supervisors and management to achieve production targets and customer expectations.
Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment, adhering to company health and safety procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience in manual machining.
Extensive experience operating manual lathes, milling machines and boring machines.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Excellent understanding of machining tolerances, measurement techniques and quality standards.
Strong mechanical aptitude with effective problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and continuous improvement.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Previous welding experience would be advantageous.
Interest in developing welding skills and undertaking cross-training opportunities.

Experience with in repair, refurbishment, maintenance or heavy engineering environments.
Knowledge of reverse engineering and component restoration processes.

Qualifications

Secondary education (Plus Two) or equivalent.
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering qualification preferred.
