What is the role? We are looking for a passionate and community focused Place Based Project Officer to support the delivery of our Place Expansion Project. This role will use the power of the Southampton Football Club brand and the benefits of physical activity to engage local communities, helping people become more active, connected and empowered. Working within the community, you will play a key role in delivering accessible activities and building relationships that create lasting impact.

What will you be doing? You will be responsible for delivering engaging and inclusive sessions within local communities, supporting people of all ages and backgrounds to take part in physical activity and social opportunities. Working alongside the Place Based Coordinator, you will help ensure the successful delivery of the project, building strong relationships with community groups, organisations and residents. You will support the development of new partnerships, identify opportunities to engage local people, and help shape activities that meet the needs of the community.

The role will involve planning and delivering a range of targeted and open access sessions, gathering feedback from participants, and supporting the long‑term sustainability of the project through meaningful community engagement. You will also work closely with colleagues and partners to promote the programme and capture the positive impact it is having across Southampton.

Is this you? You are passionate about making a difference in your community and believe in the power of sport and physical activity to improve lives. You enjoy working with people from a variety of backgrounds and can build positive relationships with participants, partners and stakeholders.

You will have experience working with community organisations and delivering engaging activities to diverse groups. A Level 2 Sports Coaching qualification, or equivalent experience, would be beneficial, along with an understanding of the positive impact physical activity can have on individuals and communities.

We would particularly welcome applications from candidates who have lived experience of the communities we serve or a strong understanding of the local area and the challenges faced by its residents.
