Forest Lodge is an 18‑bedded unit near Southampton City Centre supporting 6 female residents and 12 male residents in a communal living environment. The role focuses on proactively supporting residents experiencing mental health and associated difficulties to improve and/or maintain their health and wellbeing, promote social inclusion and the principles of recovery, choice and personalisation, and ensure the safety and effectiveness of the unit environment.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the recovery and care needs of residents, leading shifts and maintaining the unit’s safety.
- Take an active role in managing patient flow, attending area meetings and providing regular updates.
- Support residents to develop, retain or regain independent living skills disrupted by mental illness.
- Participate in shared learning and quality improvement, providing appraisal, supervision and teaching to qualified and unqualified staff including students.
- Manage the clinical area on a shift‑by‑shift basis.
- Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) qualification and current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Experience working in a variety of mental health settings as a qualified nurse.
- Attendance at Recovery College courses, WRAP Facilitator training, Mentorship qualification, Clinical supervisor training and Appraisal training.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
