Job Overview

Exciting opportunities have arisen within our expanding and innovative Perioperative care team  post holder will work within the Perioperative care service, helping to ensure that patients are fully optimised prior to surgery to improve their experience, reduce perioperative risks and contribute to reducing elective surgery waiting times.

The Perioperative care service at UHS comprises surgical Pre‑Assessment, the Perioperative anaemia service, Cardio‑pulmonary exercise testing, Pre‑habilitation, fit for surgery school and a Shared decision making service. We are also expanding our current early screening programme to ensure appropriate referral of patients to the new Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre.

Early Screening will increase both the number of patients receiving a perioperative risk screening and the number of patients receiving optimisation prior to surgery, providing benefits to the patients and the trust. Currently the focus of this role will be to cover the Pre‑Assessment service at Southampton General Hospital with the view to work across sites at Lymington and Royal South Hants (once you are trained and competent to work independently).

University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities to support your career aspirations. Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast.
