Job Summary Voisins Café is seeking a friendly, reliable and experienced Chef to join the team. The Chef will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality café food, maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards, supporting smooth kitchen operations, and helping to deliver a welcoming dining experience for customers.
Note - This opportunity is only open to applicants who have the right to work / live in Jersey and we are unable to accommodate a work permit / VISA Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items to agreed recipes, presentation standards and portion guidelines.
- Plan daily preparation and organise kitchen tasks to support efficient service.
- Ensure all food is fresh, correctly stored, clearly labelled and prepared safely.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen and food preparation areas.
- Monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients appropriately and support ordering where required.
- Minimise waste and support effective control of kitchen costs.
- Assist with the development of new menu items, seasonal specials and café food displays when required.
- Comply with food safety, allergen, health and sanitation requirements at all times.
- Work calmly and efficiently during busy service periods.
- Support, guide and supervise kitchen assistants or junior team members where needed.
- Check ingredients and finished dishes for quality, freshness and presentation before service.
- Previous experience as a Chef, Cook or kitchen professional in a café, restaurant or similar food service environment.
- Good knowledge of food preparation methods, café-style menus and kitchen equipment.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, food safety and allergen requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced service environment.
- Good organisation, time management and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends, public holidays and seasonal busy periods where required.
- Culinary qualification or relevant food preparation training.
- Food Hygiene certification.
- Experience with breakfast, brunch, bakery or café-style menus.
- First Aid certification may be advantageous.
- Friendly, approachable and enthusiastic.
- Reliable, punctual and well organised.
- Hardworking, motivated and able to take initiative.
- Calm under pressure and able to maintain standards during busy periods.
- Customer-focused, with pride in food quality and presentation.
- Team player with a proactive attitude.
- Professional, dependable, and trustworthy.
