Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. If you prefer fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we can accommodate.
Availability WindowWe schedule your contracted hours within the following times and give you three weeks' notice of exact shifts.
- Sun: 18:00 - 23:00
- Mon: 18:00 - 23:00
- Wed: 18:00 - 23:00
- Thu: 18:00 - 23:00
- Fri: 18:00 - 23:00
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco out on the road, you deliver from Lands' End to John O'Groats, meeting and talking to customers daily. This role is more than driving – it’s about helping others and delivering great service with a smile.
It’s hands‑on, physical, and full of variety. No two shifts are ever the same. You’ll have the freedom of being your own boss, with support from managers and colleagues at base.
Responsibilities- Ensure the van and trays are clean and tidy.
- Keep the back yard clean, tidy, and free of rubbish.
- Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van, check roadworthiness.
- Communicate changes to the customer about their order, offering refunds for issues.
- Handle products/deliveries as if they were your own.
- Inform customer that substitutions incur no extra charge.
- Deliver during the customer’s time slot.
- Call the customer before arrival if early.
- Call the store/centre if running 30 minutes or more late.
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit.
- Be warm and welcoming in customer and colleague interactions.
- Act quickly to respond to changing customer needs.
- Show energetic drive and integrate home and work for balance.
- Share ideas with manager and colleagues to improve the store.
- Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
