What is the role?As a Casual Safety Steward, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all visitors to St Mary’s Stadium on match days and during other events.
What will you be doing?You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment, providing excellent customer service, and responding effectively to any incidents.
Key responsibilities- Be a friendly and helpful point of contact for all visitors and staff.
- Support with pre‑event checks to ensure all facilities are safe and compliant.
- Monitor crowd behaviour and report any potential risks or issues.
- Direct spectators and staff to their seats, facilities, and exits.
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, and customer queries calmly and professionally, following established procedures.
- Assist with the safe evacuation of the stadium or specific areas if required.
- Enforce stadium rules and regulations, including those related to anti‑social behaviour and prohibited items.
- Report any suspicious activity, unattended items, or hazards.
- Work as a team with stewards, security, and emergency services.
- Attend pre‑event briefings and de‑briefings as required.
- A clear and effective communicator.
- An ability to remain calm in challenging circumstances.
- An ability to produce clear well‑written incident reports.
- A team player who shows a willingness to go the extra mile to assist supporters.
- In some stewarding positions, previous experience may be required.
Applicants who do not currently hold a Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety must complete a course to obtain the qualification.
