Family Coach Opportunity in Southampton
Southampton City Council’s Pathways Through Care Team is seeking a Family Coach to support children in care, focusing on identity, reunification and post‑reunification strengthening of relationships.
Responsibilities- Support children in foster, residential or semi‑independent homes, building relationships and facilitating communication with families.
- Work with children to develop life‑story narratives and help them understand the reasons behind care placement.
- Lead routine visits, personal and case supervision, and collaborative planning for reunification or enhanced contact.
- Advocate for children’s wishes, promote identity, education and well‑being, and assist families in planning for permanency.
- Provide post‑reunification support and works toward the safe and appropriate ending of local‑authority involvement.
- Experience working directly with children in care or related settings.
- Formal qualifications in practice or related courses (e.g., social work, child protection).
- Reflective, assured practitioner with trauma‑informed approach and strong assessment skills.
Based in the Southampton City Centre Civic Centre, with flexible/remote options and travel to support children placed outside the city.
Salary£37,280 – £40,778 per annum, starting at £37,280 with annual progression.
