Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker

Location: Hedge end
Salary: 33k-34k per annum
Hours:45 hours per week
Shifts: Days – 15-hour shifts

About the role

We are recruiting a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker to join a 4-bed children’s residential service supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs and associated behaviours that may challenge.

This is a senior role where you will lead shifts, supervise a team of support workers, and ensure high-quality, person-centred care is consistently delivered. You will help create a safe, structured and supportive environment that promotes independence, communication, confidence and daily living skills.

You will also support young people to access the community through planned activities and outings, encouraging social inclusion, independence and positive life experiences.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate shifts, ensuring effective daily running of the service
  • Supervise, support and mentor residential support workers
  • Deliver and promote person-centred, strengths-based care
  • Support individuals with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs
  • Implement positive behaviour support strategies and de‑escalation techniques
  • Encourage independence, life skills development and community participation
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed
  • Work collaboratively with families, professionals and multidisciplinary teams
Requirements
  • Level 3 NVQ (Children & Young People or equivalent) – essential
  • Willingness to work towards Level 5 qualification
  • Full UK driving licence – essential
  • Experience in learning disability residential care or similar setting
  • Experience leading shifts or working at senior support level
