They are a pioneering UK technology company delivering high-performance physical layer solutions for 5G and next‑generation wireless networks, with a particular focus on Non‑Terrestrial Networks (NTN) such as satellite communications.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join a growing engineering team developing next-generation wireless communications technology. This role will focus on the development, optimisation and integration of software infrastructure supporting high-performance embedded and real-time systems.
Working closely with software, hardware and systems teams, you will contribute to the delivery of advanced communications products while helping to drive performance, reliability and scalability across the software platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop software platforms used to run and test communications algorithms
Optimise software performance using multi-threading, SIMD and hardware acceleration techniques
Integrate software with ARM-based embedded platforms and hardware systems
Support and improve automated testing and CI pipelines
Participate in integration, interoperability and system testing activities
Work collaboratively with software, hardware and architecture teams to deliver robust solutions
Contribute to technical reviews and customer-facing engineering discussions
Essential Requirements:
Strong C or C++ programming experience
Experience working with Linux and embedded software environments
Knowledge of Python, Bash, Groovy or similar scripting languages
Understanding of real-time systems and performance-critical software
Experience with Git, Git Hub and modern software development workflows
Desirable Requirements :
Experience with in telecommunications or wireless communications environments
Knowledge of 5G technologies and associated specifications
Experience with networking technologies such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
Experience with FPGA, DSP or hardware acceleration technologies
Familiarity with FPGA tool chains such as Xilinx Vivado
Exposure to O-RAN architectures and fronthaul technologies
Test and validation experience, ideally involving RF equipment and signal analysis
Interview Process:
Stage 1: 30-minute screening interview covering experience, motivations and technical background.
Stage 2:
Approximately 90-minute onsite technical interview focused on problem-solving, software engineering fundamentals, communications knowledge and technical decision-making, followed by a site tour.
