A process improvement manager will review, document and analyze the performance of various processes and procedures at JAM and make recommendations for improvements. The job duties focus on observing staff, documenting existing processes and procedures, and determining how to increase production flow efficiency through process re-engineering. The process improvement manager will ensure that once optimized, processes are clearly stated via documented SOPs and staff are adequately trained and engaged.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Document existing processes and procedures using cross-functional charting methodology or similar methodology.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of technology solutions for material handling.
- Analyze existing processes and procedures once documented and optimize for efficiencies.
- Scan, verify, and archive documentation as needed.
- Recommend process improvements and associated training requirements.
- Establish and document SOPs and establish the required training to support the SOPs.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities and training.
- Establish change control management for all P&Ps as well as refresher training.
- Develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs where required.
- Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs using effective methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Create and conduct orientation and training sessions and arrange on-the-job training for new hires in all DC departments.
- Consult with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.
- Conduct and document lessons learned and best practice reviews.
- Assess the impact of training programs.
- Prepare training budgets for all departments.
- Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience with at least 7–10 years of related experience.
- Strong communications skills, written and spoken.
- Proficient in analyzing, documenting and solving problems related to process re-engineering.
- Six Sigma certification an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Visio and cross-functional charts
- Kaizen certification an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to multi-task
- Familiar or experienced in Lean Manufacturing practices
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong history of being a team player with the ability to impact operational standards
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasional standing, walking, or navigating warehouse and production environments to conduct observations, training sessions, or implementation meetings
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry training materials, documentation binders, or office equipment up to 20 lbs
- Requires use of standard office equipment such as computers, printers, projectors, and video conferencing tools
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via digital platforms for extended periods of time
- Primarily office-based within a distribution center or corporate environment, with frequent visits to operational areas to observe processes and engage with staff
- Collaborative, team-oriented setting requiring regular interaction with cross-functional departments, including operations, training, and management
- May involve occasional travel between company locations or facilities for training sessions, observations, and implementation of process improvements
- Requires working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, often handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Exposure to warehouse or distribution center conditions during process observations (e.g., variable temperatures, noise, moving equipment)
