Scientist / Industrial Postdoc – Analytical Development
Boston Institute of Biotechnology (BIB) seeks a dedicated Scientist / Industrial Postdoc to lead analytical development initiatives for biologics processes and support cGMP manufacturing.
About the JobAn Industrial Postdoc / Scientist I at BIB is a highly motivated individual who works independently or as a supervisor/project lead, guiding junior scientists on projects. The Scientist I is a core member contributing to BIB operations and shaping the company’s growth direction.
Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise and leadership in the characterization of samples from upstream and downstream process groups, analyzing and documenting data, and achieving goals for cross‑functional development teams.
- Develop and run HPLC/UPLC methods (including RP, SEC, IEX, etc.) for biologics process development and USP/DSP support. Develop other common analytical methods such as electrophoresis (e.g., SDS‑PAGE), Western‑Blot, ELISA, PCR, endotoxin, host cell proteins, concentration, and cell‑based assays for process development and USP/DSP support.
- Lead innovative efforts of the relevant project teams.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and supervise analytical instruments to support projects.
- Troubleshoot equipment and processes.
- Generate, analyze, and interpret experimental data and present/document results at meetings.
- Provide reports and prepare scientific presentations as needed.
- Write and revise SOPs and technical reports.
- Order the needed materials and supplies for projects.
- Communicate progress and results to senior scientists on experimental status.
- Maintain awareness of relevant scientific literature and new technologies; participate in or lead evaluations of new technologies and their potential applications and business impacts.
- Participate in project management.
- Ensure and promote safe environmental and laboratory practices.
- Ph.D./MS/BS degrees in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical/Biochemical Engineering, or related discipline with hands‑on experience with biologic/protein analytics in biopharmaceutical industry (knowledge of AAV and mRNA analysis a plus).
- Ph.D. with ≤1 year experience or MS with ≥3 years or BS with ≥5 years of industry experience in analytical method development and qualification for biologics molecules, characterization, data analysis/interpretation, and analytical tech transfer to cGMP manufacturing facilities.
- Knowledge or experience in a cGMP working environment.
- Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, with ability to develop creative solutions to challenging problems.
- Strong teamwork/collaboration spirit and effective communication abilities.
- Client‑focused, results‑oriented, science‑and‑innovation driven with good financial awareness.
- Advanced written skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Proficient in MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and statistical DOE software including JMP, Minitab, Design Expert, etc.
- Flexible and results‑oriented.
$70,000 – $85,000
