Psychiatric Emergency Services Clinician, Per Diem, Relief Shifts Harrington Hospital

Provide emergency psychiatric services to adults and children who present for evaluation to emergency departments, as well as patients within the hospital requiring crisis evaluation. Deliver crisis intervention, risk assessment, and care level determination while working independently and in collaboration with psychiatrists, nursing, and behavioral health staff.

• Develop and maintain good working relationships with other PES team members, staff from other departments, community agencies, and department collaterals.
• Formulate diagnostic impressions based on DSM‑V criteria and assess risk to self, others, or potential abuse/neglect.
• Apply best‑practice techniques, consider input from patients’ support systems, and determine appropriate levels of care.
• Record clinical information in the required format consistent with professional standards, Joint Commission, DMH, and DPH.
• Treat patients, family members, co‑workers, and collateral contacts with respect, regardless of personal bias.

• Master’s degree in social work, mental health, or a related field.
• License in the behavioral health field (preferred).
• Minimum of two years of experience in the behavioral health field.
• Driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle for travel between Southbridge and Webster emergency departments.

Schedule:

Monday, Monday through Friday, weekdays from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with optional additional shifts based on staff callouts or coverage needs.
