Welder

Overview

Welder role at MEI Industrial Solutions. The Welder is responsible for Mig, Tig and Stick welding to perform temporary bracing or anchors, permanent structures, or create structural welds.

• Examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools.
• Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
• Operate vehicles or mechanized devices as required (e.g., forklifts, passenger vehicles).
• Read blueprints and use measuring tools such as tape measures, levels, and squares.
• Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches according to load weights, sizes, and schedules.
• Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces using appropriate rigging equipment.
• Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver around obstacles using multi-point suspension techniques.
• Install ground rigging for yarding lines and attach chokers to logs or lines.
• Align, level, and anchor machinery.
• Move or support materials using rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear.
• Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts and clamps.

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years welding experience.
• Minimum three (3) years construction industry experience.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment (hand, power, pneumatic).
• Welding certification preferred.
• Good understanding of English, including spelling and grammar.

This is a very physical, hands-on role. The Welder must be able to perform activities requiring significant use of arms and legs, including crawling, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, and standing for long periods. Must be able to handle materials up to 50 pounds and work in non-temperature-controlled environments, outdoors in all weather and on uneven terrain.
