Assistant Director of Nursing – Southbury, CT Job Description

The Assistant Director of Nursing will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in the management of the nursing department to maintain quality standards of care, including consultation to medical staff, department heads, and the Administrator in matters related to nursing services.
  • Provide input into the interpretation of nursing philosophy and assist in establishing departmental goals and objectives.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with regulatory compliance and ensure effective communication strategies with all levels of nursing staff to promote effective care delivery.
  • Along with the Director of Nursing, promote positive employee relations, a strong customer‑service ethic, and a commitment to ongoing staff education and training; may exercise direction over the department in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure the integrity of educational programs offered within the facility.
  • Staff development.
  • Identify current employees to be mentored into both personal and career advancement toward a leadership position within the corporation.
Position Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of long‑term or acute health‑care experience preferred.
  • At least two years of nursing supervisory experience required.
  • Travel as required for regional or corporate meetings and marketing duties.
  • Currently licensed as an RN in the state of practice.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
