SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Location: Southend on Sea Pay: £90 - £100 per day

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Southend on Sea
.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about breaking down barriers to learning and helping students achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a SEND LSA, you will work closely with students who require additional support to access the curriculum. You may be working 1:1 with a specific student or supporting small groups within a classroom setting.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students with diverse needs (e.g., Autism (ASD), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or learning difficulties).
  • Building a strong, trusting rapport with students to encourage engagement and confidence.
  • Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Managing challenging behaviour calmly and effectively using positive reinforcement.
  • Working collaboratively with the Class Teacher and SENCO to adapt resources and learning activities.
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND (in a school, care, or residential setting) is highly desirable.
  • Attitude: A "can-do" attitude, patience, and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations.
  • Qualifications: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential if you have relevant experience).
  • DBS: An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Passion: A genuine desire to support the development and well-being of young people.
