Overview
South Essex Colleges Group is seeking a talented and passionate Art and Design Lecturer to join our thriving Creative and Performing Arts Department to deliver high-quality education and excellent outcomes. The successful candidate will teach a variety of modules and subjects within the Art and Design field, ensuring learners receive a comprehensive, inspiring, and engaging learning experience.
ResponsibilitiesProgram and deliver lessons, workshops and assessments that meet the needs of learners at different levels of study, ensuring they develop practical and theoretical skills. Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking and independent learning.
Take on course leadership responsibilities: oversee the planning, development and assessment of student work, manage course documentation, ensure the course delivery aligns with the curriculum, and track attendance and progress. Manage the learner journey from induction to progression, supporting learners in reaching their potential and completing their course.
QualificationsRelevant degree in Art, Design or a related field (or equivalent qualification) with significant teaching experience in a further education environment, ideally within Art and Design. Strong knowledge and passion for Fine Art, Illustration, 3D Design, Graphics, Photography and Fashion, and experience teaching across Level 1 to Level 4.
Excellent organisational and administrative skills, ability to inspire and motivate learners, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other teaching staff and employers to enhance the curriculum.
Experience with digital platforms and learning management systems to support teaching and learning is desirable, as is knowledge of UAL qualifications and industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
A teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed) or a commitment to working towards one is preferred. For those without a teaching qualification, a minimum level 3 qualification in the subject specialism plus Maths and English at level 2 is required before embarking on a Cert Ed level 5 or PGCE level 6. The College can fund these in‑house qualifications for the successful candidate.
