Group Tax Accountant role for family run business in Southend-on-Sea

Your new company

I'm working on a really exciting role with this family run business in Southend on Sea. Reporting into the Finance Director the business is now looking to recruit a Corporate Tax Accountant.
Your new role

Broadly speaking the main responsibilities of the role are as follows.
Corporate Tax:

  • Prepare annual corporate tax returns.
  • Prepare annual R&D claims.
  • Advise on tax planning opportunities and impact of capital investment plans.
  • Overseas Corporation Tax:
  • Provide relevant information to tax advisors to support accurate local tax filings.
  • Review overseas tax filings prior to timely submission.
  • Liaise with overseas tax advisors on legislative changes affecting the business.
  • Prepare overseas R&D claims, where applicable.
  • VAT, Sales Tax & Duty:
  • Review and file monthly UK VAT returns, including any exemptions claimed.
  • Prepare and manage overseas VAT claims and registrations.
  • Prepare information for US sales tax and Nexus reviews.
  • Review and assess commodity codes and respective duty rates internationally.
  • Review the use of Incoterms for accuracy.
  • Review overseas sales tax and duty declarations.
  • Prepare claims for applicable import/export schemes.
  • Payroll:
  • Advise on legislative changes impacting payroll taxes.
  • Provide technical support on payroll tax matters to the HR Payroll Team.
  • International Tax:
  • Prepare the Group's annual transfer pricing report.
  • Advise on tax implications of global expansion.
  • Training:

    Deliver ad-hoc training to departments to improve understanding of the tax related matters.

    General Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to departmental budgets and support financial planning where required
  • Assist other team members with their work and carry out any task where reasonable and relevant, when required.
  • What you'll need to succeed
    You will be ACA / ACCA qualified. CTA qualification would be a bonus but certainly not essential. You could either be working within a professional services firm or have already moved to an in-house role.
