Position: CNC Setter Operator (Permanent)
CNC Setter Operator - Sliding & Fixed Head

Southend-on-Sea

Up to £35,000 (DOE)

Monday to Thursday | 37 Hours

Prime Appointments are partnering with a well-established aerospace precision engineering business in Southend who are looking to add a capable CNC Setter Operator to their team.

The successful candidate will be confident setting and running both sliding head and fixed head CNC lathes across the shopfloor. You'll play a key role in keeping production flowing efficiently while maintaining the high standards expected within aerospace manufacturing.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can programme using CAD/CAM, as well as contribute to improving processes and supporting overall shop performance.

What You'll Be Doing

Setting and operating sliding head and fixed head CNC lathes
Programming or editing programmes where required (CAD/CAM experience highly advantageous)
Producing first-off components and completing in-process inspection
Working with aerospace materials including stainless steel, aluminium and Inconel
Operating bar-fed machines
Supporting secondary processes such as deburring and finishing operations
Ensuring machines are running efficiently and safely
Accurately recording production information
Contributing to continuous improvement and reducing waste

What We're Looking For

Aerospace precision engineering experience
Strong background in CNC turning (sliding and fixed head essential)
CAD/CAM programming capability (preferred)
Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Seiki controls
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Confident using measuring equipment and completing quality checks
Proactive and team-focused approach
