Precision Engineering - Sliding & Fixed Head
Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Permanent Position
We're partnered with an established precision engineering business producing high-quality machined components for a range of industrial sectors.
The business operates a modern CNC machining facility, working across sliding-head and fixed-head machinery and producing complex components to tight, micron-level tolerances.
Due to continued demand, they're looking for an experienced CNC Turner / Setter to join their production team.
The RoleYou’ll be responsible for setting, programming and operating CNC turning machinery, producing precision components accurately and efficiently within a low-to-medium volume environment.
What You’ll Be Doing- Setting and operating CNC turning machines
- Programming using FANUC controls
- Working with Star and Miyano machines
- Working across sliding head and fixed-head turning
- Selecting tooling, work holding and cutting parameters
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Producing components to tight and micron level tolerances
- Carrying out inprocess inspection and dimensional checks
- Identifying and resolving basic machining issues
- Working closely with the production team to meet delivery requirements
- Maintaining high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping
- Proven experience as a CNC Turner
- Strong CNC turning and machine setting experience
- FANUC programming experience
- Star or Miyano machine experience - essential
- Sliding head or fixed-head turning experience
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience machining to tight tolerances
- Good understanding of tooling and cutting conditions
- Twin spindle experience advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Reliable, professional and team focused
- Permanent position
