SEND Case Officer
We are currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Case Officer to join a busy SEND service on a fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with strong EHCP case management experience to support a high-performing local authority team.
Contract Details
Rate: £39,152 to £45,091 depending on experience
Contract Length:
Fixed-term until 31st March 2027
Working Pattern:
Hybrid working – 2 days per week in the office (Essex)
Start: ASAPKey Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of new EHC assessments and annual reviews for children and young people with SEND up to age 25
Coordinate statutory EHCP processes in line with the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice
Draft, amend and review EHCPs within statutory timescales
Work closely with education, health and social care professionals to deliver person-centred plans
Attend annual reviews, co-production meetings and multi-agency meetings where required
Support effective phase transfers and placement consultations
Resolve disputes and support mediation to avoid tribunal escalation where possible
Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with GDPR and operational standards
Promote Preparing for Adulthood outcomes and support positive education, employment and training pathways Requirements
Previous experience working within a Local Authority SEND service
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and Children and Families Act 2014
Experience managing EHCP assessments and annual reviews independently
Ability to manage complex casework and prioritise a busy caseload
Confident working with parents, schools, professionals and external agencies
Excellent written communication and report-writing skills
Experience supporting mediation and tribunal preparation is desirable
