Warehouse Supervisor (Permanent)

Location:

Southend‑On‑Sea area of Essex – Warehousing Sheds and Yard areas.

We are looking for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor for a dynamic and fast‑paced working environment. This Permanent position from the start requires candidates to have their own transport.

Salary: £32,000 – £35,000 per annum. Free parking on site.

Hours:

Monday to Friday 6.00 am to 3.00 pm plus overtime in peak periods as required for business needs. Flexibility is required for this position of authority.

Job Overview:

  • Lead and oversee warehouse and yard staff, ensuring effective teamwork in customer service, storage, and yard maintenance.
  • Perform day‑to‑day people‑management tasks, conduct staff appraisals, evaluate output, and recommend training.
  • Unload, unpack, check and store goods, either manually or using a forklift (fully trained and certified).
  • Greet and liaise with customers and drivers, advise on product options and check pre‑loaded goods.
  • Assist with stock‑taking spot checks to ensure accuracy.
  • Oversee pre‑forklift checks, racking inspections and general compliance paperwork related to distribution.
  • Carry out general warehouse and yard duties as required.
  • Report incidents or accidents promptly in compliance with the company's reporting system.

Person Specification

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Fit and able to complete manual handling duties; heavy lifting involved.
  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience in a distribution setting.
  • Commitment to high levels of health and safety regulations.
  • Valid counterbalance or combi forklift certification.
  • Physically able to cope with manual handling/heavy lifting (timber or cement bag goods) and work in all kinds of weather.
  • Reliable, team‑oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Adaptable to changing work requirements.
  • Driver and own transport – essential.
