Job Overview

The Manufacturing Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining control systems for manufacturing processes. This role requires expertise in PLC programming, electrical schematic design, and system integration. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal performance of existing systems while driving improvements and upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains best safety practices while ensuring ergonomics and safety of the manufacturing site are addressed
  • Design, develop, and implement PLC programs primarily for Allen Bradley and Keyence systems
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing PLC logic for manufacturing processes
  • Develop detailed electrical schematics for control cabinets and complete automation systems
  • Maintain and support existing control systems to minimize downtime
  • Recommend and implement upgrades to improve system performance and reliability
  • Work independently as well as on a cross functional team
  • Generates root cause analysis and executes resolution to reduce repeat failures
  • Develops Work Instructions, PFMEAs, Process Flows and Job Safety Assessments
  • Lead and support continuous improvement of process improvement throughout the manufacturing facility
  • Generates and drives cost saving opportunities
  • Process change requests in PLM Software and own revising assembly process and implementing the change over
  • Research and coordinate with vendors to incorporate capital projects to expand assembly automation capabilities
  • Develop assembly process in tandem with New Product Development for product launches
  • Ability to contribute to New Product Development Design Reviews in order to evaluate feasibility of manufacturability
  • Conduct research to develop new and improved processes for manufacturing
  • Establish safety procedures for individuals working in manufacturing
  • Design and plan equipment layout
  • Review detail drawings of parts and assemblies to ensure process meets the requirements
  • Remains organized and focused while maintaining multiple ongoing projects
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 5+ years related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience desigining, developing and maintaining control systems
  • Experience in PLC programming, electrical schematic design and system integration
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods, process and quality standards
  • Knowledge of process standards related to manufacturing and standard work
  • Experience with Allen‑Bradley SQL
Preferences
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • Lean Six Sigma Experience
