Staff Bright has an Accounting Manager opportunity with a client in Southfield, MI. We’re looking for a driven accounting professional with 5+ years of experience, strong US GAAP/IFRS knowledge, and the ability to handle technical accounting, financial reporting, and core accounting operations in a manufacturing setting.
What You Will Be Doing- Help develop and maintain corporate accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure business units comply with corporate accounting standards and initiatives
- Analyze complex accounting transactions (revenue recognition, leases, business combinations) and provide technical guidance
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, including financial statements, footnotes, disclosures, and variance analysis
- Provide technical accounting support for major transactions such as debt refinancing and equity-based compensation
- Assist with the design, implementation, and testing of internal controls and oversee internal audit activities
- Work with external auditors by preparing required documentation and explanations
- Review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Lead and develop a small team, including a Senior Accountant and an AP/AR Supervisor, with four additional indirect reports
- Handle various accounting and finance tasks as needed to support continuous improvement across the organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- CPA is preferred
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
- 2+ years of leadership experience
- Strong technical understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP, IFRS, etc.)
- Hands‑on experience in AP/AR, journal entries, reconciliations, balance sheet ownership, and monthly close
- Must have prior experience supporting manufacturing or automotive environments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to operate independently and provide guidance across business units
- Proven ability to support financial reporting, internal controls, and cross‑functional accounting initiatives
