Accounting Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to join a construction company in Southfield, Michigan on a Contract basis through the end of the year. This permanent opportunity is well suited for someone beginning their accounting career, including those at the entry level who want to build hands-on experience in payroll support and office administration. The person in this role will provide day-to-day assistance to the payroll team while helping organize and reconcile accounting-related records as part of a broader cleanup effort.

Responsibilities:

- Support payroll staff with administrative tasks, including preparing documents, organizing records, and maintaining accurate files.

- Assist with reviewing accounting documents to help improve record accuracy and completeness through year-end project work.

- Enter, update, and verify payroll or accounting information in internal systems with close attention to detail.

- Respond to routine requests from team members by locating information and providing timely administrative support.

- Help track outstanding items, follow up on missing documentation, and keep payroll-related processes moving efficiently.

- Maintain organized electronic and paper records to support audit readiness and day-to-day accounting operations.

- Collaborate with accounting and payroll personnel to complete assigned tasks within established deadlines. Requirements - Experience or academic exposure in payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative support.

- Ability to handle detailed data entry work accurately and efficiently.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams.

- Proficiency with standard office software and comfort learning company systems.

- Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
