Overview
Fox TV Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations in 14 of the top 15 DMAs and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. The stations distribute sports, entertainment and syndicated content and collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week.
Job DescriptionThe reporter will cover breaking news events, writing quickly and precisely to confirm developing information. They will develop sources to verify information promptly, pursue original and exclusive stories, and collaborate with managers, producers, editors and photographers to produce high-quality stories. The reporter must meet deadlines, manage time effectively, and arrive prepared with story ideas, pitches, and updated knowledge of current events.
Strong writing skills and a solid live presence are required.
Duties
- The reporter will attend editorial meetings and contribute story ideas; weigh in on story selection.
- Gather content for as much linear and digital programming as possible.
- Help build the station’s reputation and relationships in the community.
- Write stories for linear and digital programming.
Equipment
- Use Inews or other internal communication systems, Slack, My Fox Pay and Workday.
- Capable of shooting and editing a quality news package meeting market standards; may use a phone camera to gather news and produce a simple, quality package suitable for air when needed.
Working Conditions
Primary work environment is the field, news vehicle and news building; occasional time spent in the studio.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, broadcast journalism or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience writing and researching news required.
- Strong writing skills and solid knowledge of current events.
- Team player; able to work flexible hours including holidays.
- Strong communication skills in newsroom interaction and storytelling.
- Knowledge of social media trends and best practices.

Compensation and Benefits
Pay rate/range for this role is $90,000.00–$ per year, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location. This role is eligible for benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with plan documents. Benefits for union-represented employees are in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
