As a Mechanical Sr. Designer / Engineer with experience in Powertrain Assembly, you will collaborate with Comau's Powertrain Engineering team to develop innovative solutions for Powertrain Assembly and Test production systems. This team has a deep understanding of CNC products, processes, customer requirements, and assembly systems. You will develop concepts, designs, details, stock lists, and layouts to meet project requirements using Solid Works CAD software.
We seek experienced candidates who will:
- Develop complete designs for Manual, Automatic, and Semi-Automatic Stations and Machines.
- Assist Manufacturing and Commissioning teams in implementing technical solutions to meet Part Print and Process requirements.
- Review and understand customer requirements and specifications.
- Actively participate in project team meetings.
- Travel domestically and internationally as necessary for project resolution and field checks.
Core Responsibilities:
Design of complex tooling for PWTA, including:
- Piston Stuffing
- Torque Turn
- Piston Travel & Compression
- Supper Structures
Develop complete designs for Manual, Automatic, and Semi-Automatic Stations and Machines, applying engineering principles. Knowledge of industrial processes is required to determine application of equipment. Modify existing 3D and 2D models and drawings for 'kit' designs, and create new designs using references on simple to complex systems. Develop detailed drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and controls using CAD software.
Interpret and adhere to customer, corporate, plant, and national standards. Modify and revise designs to correct deficiencies or reduce production problems. Review and approve product designs and changes. Perform administrative tasks such as report review and writing. Present proposals, reports, and findings. Draw freehand sketches and reproduce blueprints. Supervise and train other drafters, technologists, and technicians as needed.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with assembly of Powertrain products
- Knowledge of engine blocks, transmission (manual and automatic), cylinders
- Knowledge of engine and transmission testing
- Understanding of systems build of various PWT products
- CAD/Software:
Solid Works, AutoCAD, NX, Excel
Requirements:
- 5+ years of mechanical design and engineering experience in Powertrain or an Associate Degree in Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Ability to travel domestically (5-20%) and internationally for technical support.
