Overview

Handling multi-state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations takes more than just a technical understanding of current sales and use tax rules. As a Sales and Use Tax Manager assigned to EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), you will build and apply your knowledge on a wide range of sales and use tax recovery projects for clients in multiple industries.

Key Responsibilities

There is no average day for a Sales and Use Tax Manager in the Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review COE; you’ll spend your time on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities, and tasks. Whatever you’re working on, our clients will turn to you for up‑to‑the‑minute tax advice they can always rely on. You will work in a highly collaborative culture, listening to and sharing information with colleagues as an essential part of the role.

  • Spot potential over payment opportunities or risks and communicate these to clients.
  • Monitor current tax law changes to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
  • Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries.
  • Prepare and defend sales and use tax refund claims.
  • Participate on a motivated team of professionals.
  • Manage a motivated team, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to reach their full potential.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts, and tools.
  • Experience managing budgets, people, and projects.
  • A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
  • Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
  • The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
  • Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
Additional Qualifications
  • An achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, a CMI designation, or membership in a state bar.

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package including a base salary range for the U.S. between $105,100 and $192,600, and for certain metro areas up to $218,900.
