EY is seeking a Manager in Business Tax Services – Private Tax Partnerships. The opportunity focuses on serving privately held companies, ranging from family-owned businesses to private equity owned companies, with a growing practice and opportunities to progress to senior manager.

YourKey Responsibilities
- Support senior managers through partners in providing tax services, balancing time between compliance and planning, and interacting directly with clients.
- Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements for cross-border tax compliance (foreign partnerships, foreign corporations, foreign disregarded entities, and foreign affiliate reporting).
- Provide tax research, draft tax memoranda, and assist in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.
- Identify and communicate significant tax matters to Managers and Senior Managers.
- Liaise and build relationships with other service lines and subject matter professionals.
- Build long-term relationships with clients, understand their needs, and provide tailored service.
- Explain complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients.
- Maintain and share technical knowledge and best practices to strengthen reputation in the field.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of tax professionals, review work, and ensure team members have the tools and opportunities to excel.
- Identify and respond to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with tax, business, or financial planning experience.
- CPA certification or membership in The Bar.
- Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, with the confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organizations.
- Willingness to work in a balanced hybrid environment and travel as needed.
Ideally, you will have:
- Commitment to continuing learning.
- Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH Intelli Connect, One Source, BNA, or Lexis Nexis.
- Experience with Gift, Estate, and Trust tax planning and compliance is a plus.
- Experience in managing, coaching, and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Tax professionals with a genuine interest in delivering outstanding services to influential clients and entities, collaborating with people from executives to investors, and maintaining a reputation for excellence as a trusted advisor.
- Comprehensive compensation and benefits package with base salary ranges (US-wide: $106,500 to $195,100; NYC Metro, WA, CA excluding Sacramento: $127,700 to $221,700). Total Rewards include medical/dental coverage, pension and 401(k), and paid time off options.
- Hybrid work model with expectation to work client-serving roles in person 40-60% of the time.
