ScheduleHybrid work schedule: 4 days on‑site, 1 day remote. Flexible work hours within 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with options 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.
ResponsibilitiesCURE Auto Insurance is a leading direct writer of auto insurance in NJ, PA, and MI. Staff Counsel will handle PIP defense from inception through trial and appeal, manage a full caseload on a time‑sensitive basis, perform depositions, negotiate, and present and cross‑examine witnesses. Leadership potential exists as the company expands into Michigan.
Qualifications- 2+ years of experience handling PIP litigation from inception to conclusion.
- Additional experience with first and third party claims for auto carriers is a plus.
- Ability to take full responsibility for files and manage a full inventory of files.
- Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law.
- Experience presenting and cross‑examining lay and expert witnesses.
- Experience directing support staff on clerical and administrative matters related to lawsuit handling.
- Experience working in a paperless electronic environment.
- Strong automation/technological skills for lawsuit handling and courtroom presentation.
- Preferred qualification is handling of insurance defense matters.
- Law degree from an ABA‑accredited law school and excellent academic credentials.
- Active law license to practice in Michigan and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan.
