Senior FLSA / Class Action Litigation Paralegal – Southfield, MI

Our law firm is seeking an experienced federal court litigation paralegal to play a key role on our Class Action and Wage & Hour litigation team in our Southfield, Michigan office. This position focuses heavily on FLSA, wage‑and‑hour, and class/collective actions. MUST HAVE SIGNIFICANT FEDERAL COURT TRIAL LITIGATION EXPERIENCE.

Key Responsibilities
    >

    Lead and manage intake for potential wage‑and‑hour and class/collective actions, including collecting pertinent information from prospective clients during phone interviews and screening for FLSA issues.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and professional staff to evaluate legal claims, request and review critical records (time, payroll, HR), and maintain communication with prospective and existing clients throughout the intake and litigation process.
  • Investigate the facts surrounding potential FLSA and wage‑and‑hour claims, including analysis of time and pay data and identification of misclassification and off‑the‑clock issues.
  • Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, discovery requests and responses, case evaluation summaries, damages spreadsheets, class/collective certification materials, and demand letters, as directed by attorneys.
  • Conduct legal research relevant to wage‑and‑hour and class action issues and assist in drafting research‑based memoranda and sections of pleadings and motions.
  • Analyze and summarize deposition transcripts, answers to interrogatories, document productions, and other materials for use in dispositive motions, trial preparation, and settlement strategy.
  • Meet with clients and other professionals (including experts) to discuss case details, collect evidence, and prepare witnesses.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing clear, professional communication and updates throughout the life of the case.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, other paralegals, and professional staff to manage dockets, deadlines, and case workflow.
  • Interview experts and witnesses and assist in preparation of expert reports and trial testimony.
  • Attend federal and state court proceedings, mediations, and trials with attorneys, as needed, including hands‑on support for exhibits, witnesses, and real‑time case management in the courtroom.
Qualifications
  • Ten or more years of experience working on federal court litigation matters in a law firm setting. Significant experience with Class Action and/or FLSA wage‑and‑hour cases is strongly preferred.
  • Superior writing skills and demonstrated competency in legal research and writing, particularly in complex litigation matters.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, co‑workers, and outside parties.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work independently in a high‑volume, fast‑paced litigation environment.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience with Right Signature, Needles CMS, Law Ruler, or similar intake and practice management software is preferred.

Work schedule and location:
Business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but additional work may be necessary based on litigation demands and trial schedules. This is an office‑based position in our Southfield, Michigan office, with the possibility of up to two remote workdays per week. A background check, in accordance with applicable employment laws, may be required.
