Overview

Job Title: Chemical Lab Technician I

Location: Southfield, MI (100% Onsite)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hrs/week, overtime as needed)

Pay Rate: Up to $25/hr (W-2)

Position Overview

Our Client is seeking two Chemical Lab Technicians to support the development of innovative solutions for the coatings industry
. This role will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments,
preparing chemical mixtures, testing paint samples
, and documenting results to ensure product quality and compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and
    mix chemical formulations for testing.
  • Apply paints electrostatically or pneumatically to test panels.
  • Conduct laboratory tests, monitor chemical processes, and analyze results.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Record, compile, and report test data with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assist in ordering, cataloging, and maintaining lab materials.
  • Ensure proper handling, compatibility, and storage of chemicals.
  • Work collaboratively with chemists and team members while managing individual tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree with at least 2 years of laboratory experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical handling, instrumentation, and storage.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, and email).
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must pass required medical testing (CHR checklist provided).
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with laboratory documentation and reporting.
  • Familiarity with vendor/material management.
  • Working knowledge of chemical compatibility and safety protocols.
