Production Supervisor

Job Summary

Production Supervisor, 2nd Shift – responsible for coordinating and directing activities of the production department to maximize productivity and minimize costs while maintaining quality. Primarily accountable for inspecting products to verify production specifications and training and supervising production personnel. Directs shift supervisors on production volume, quality standards, cost constraints, scheduling requirements, and recommends major equipment purchases.

• Manage, initiate, and direct activities of employees and equipment.
• Allocate work to employees, set production targets, and communicate precise instructions.
• Maintain effective employee relations and address concerns promptly with HR.
• Monitor and initiate training activities and maintain all related documentation.
• Ensure employees work safely in a safe environment.
• Conduct employee meetings.
• Complete performance evaluations for the department as required.
• Perform weekly safety inspections, 5S inspections, and layered audits.
• Complete tasks assigned from monthly workplace inspections.
• Participate in the corrective action process.
• Troubleshoot equipment.
• Communicate progress and obtain instructions from managers and supervisors.
• Teach employees and less experienced workers to install new equipment, perform maintenance tasks, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults.
• Develop and plan employees’ schedules, appointments and adjust as needed.
• Coordinate job tasks with junior workers, co-workers, and subcontractors.

• High School Diploma or equivalent general education.
• Journeyman/woman trade certification in related field is an asset.
• Minimum three years of machine shop experience and supervisory experience is an asset.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot machines and equipment.
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to read inspection forms to ensure maintenance, repair and inspection tasks are completed.
• Ability to identify structures and locate dimensions in scale drawings.
