Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides planned, skilled, and individualized nursing care for patients in the preoperative and postoperative/post-anesthesia (Phase 1 &
    2) periods of the perioperative process.
  • Provides thorough patient assessment, patient surveillance, and timely administrations of physician’s orders preparing the patient for and recovering the patient after surgery in an outpatient setting.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Supports the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Organization.
  • Maintains familiarity with and abides by the Center’s policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the progress and development of the Organization’s adopted Quality Management Program.
  • Maintains professional competence by participating in continuing education and other learning experiences.
  • Maintains membership(s) and activity within relevant professional organization(s).
  • Must be able to set priorities and provide direction to others that is clear, concise, and promotes efficiency.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities.
  • Respects the patient’s right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality and will provide a safe and supportive patient atmosphere.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan:
    Required
  • Minimum of 2 years perioperative orthopaedic surgery experience:
    Required
  • Joint Replacement and Spine Surgery experience:
    Preferred
  • Critical Care experience:
    Preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certification Required (able to obtain within 6 months of hire).
