Responsibilities and qualifications describe the role and the path to joining the Kroger team.

• A Kroger Bakery Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while encouraging other associates to do the same.
• As a Bakery team member, you will establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return.
• Bakery Clerk assists the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitors all established quality assurance standards.
• As a Bakery team member you should demonstrate Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery specials and provide fresh products that meet ordered specifications and portion sizes.
• Recommend bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, ovens) according to company guidelines and maintain proper temperatures with temperature logs.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise; ensure product quality and freshness by reviewing sell-by dates.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager; assist with inventory and stocking; respond to customer questions and locate products in-store.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures; identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Display a positive attitude and create an environment where customers feel welcome, important and appreciated.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and notify management of equipment in need of repair; report safety risks, accidents, theft or fraud.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
