Job descriptionTwo-year Vo-Tech Certificate in electronics or related technical field and seven or more years progressive experience as an engineering technician in a electrical engineering or testing organization;
High School diploma or equivalent and twelve years progressive experience as an engineering technician in a related position within a manufacturing or testing organization also meets minimum requirements.
This is the third-step position along the engineering technician career path. To qualify for internal promotion, the most recent annual performance appraisal as an Engineering Technician III must be at "Exceeds Position Requirements" level, or above.
Certified IPC specialist (CIS) that meets the IPC-A610 Standard for Acceptance Criteria for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies preferred.
Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical theory related to medical devices and practice is required. Basic technical drawing/drafting skill.
Knowledge and skill in engineering record keeping procedures and methods, with the ability to rapidly master Smiths Medical internal procedures and methods.
Knowledge of QSSOPs, GMP/FDA/ISO 9001, etc., principles and ability to integrate into software engineering discipline
Responsibilities- Performs technical work requiring competency in all conventional aspects of the electrical engineering department.
- Conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluations, selection and the adaptation of standard techniques, procedures and criteria; devises new approaches to problems as encountered.
- Performs technical work requiring some independent evaluation, selection and application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria within electrical engineering.
- Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables, requiring knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures within electrical engineering. Conducts work requiring judgement in the evaluation, selection and substantial adaption of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Devices new approaches to problems as encountered.
- Plans and conducts projects on a limited scope or portions of a larger projects.
