Controller
Arundel is seeking a detail oriented Controller. This position is within our corporate group. This is a full time on location position leading a vertically integrated real estate development company with engineering, construction and property management operations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Oversee day to day accounting operation across all business units.
- Manage accountants working within the business units. Review their work ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timelines.
- Ensure accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial close and reporting across all business units.
- Review and approve general ledger activity, reconciliations and financial statements.
- Ensure proper cost accounting and job costing practices.
- Coordinate financial reporting between operating companies and corporate leadership.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis across multiple entities.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Serve as key Quickbooks power user as well as lead the company through a transition to Oracle Net Suite in year 2026. Be the subject matter expert in both accounting programs.
- Complete internal audits, tax preparation and investor reporting.
- Partner with operations, construction leadership and executive team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field is a requirement. Masters degree is highly coveted.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant accounting experience in commercial real estate and construction firms.
- Strong working knowledge of Quickbooks Enterprise and Net Suite programs.
- Very strong knowledge of GAAP finance reporting and internal controls.
- Demonstrated experience with intercompany reconciliation and job costing.
- Prior experience managing and mentoring accounting staff.
- Experience working across multiple business units is a must.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to be a part of the executive management team and take responsibility for decisions made.
