** Role Overview An opportunity is available for a Senior Performance Engineer to join a performance engineering team. This role involves independently planning and delivering performance and resiliency initiatives for a Java-based trading platform, with a focus on latency, scalability, reliability, and resiliency. The engineer will build workloads and tools, identify code and system bottlenecks, and recommend improvements across various environments.

Key Responsibilities
* Independently plan and deliver performance, scalability, resiliency, and capacity validation for assigned systems.
* Learn architecture, business flows, dependencies, workloads, and production behavior.
* Define requirements, workloads, acceptance criteria, and reports with partner teams.
* Build performance test scripts, workload generators, mock services, frameworks, and automation.
* Run load, stress, endurance, scalability, failover, recovery, degradation, and resiliency tests.
* Analyze source code, JVM behavior, system resources, databases, networks, logs, metrics, and end-to-end latency.
* Recommend and validate improvements for code, configuration, infrastructure, databases, capacity, design, and resiliency.
* Use production behavior as the baseline for workload design, capacity planning, risk analysis, and validation.
* Maintain dashboards, reports, diagnostic tools, runbooks, frameworks, and workload libraries.
* Evaluate new testing, profiling, observability, and resiliency tools.
* Use approved automation and AI tools to improve scripting, analysis, documentation, and diagnostics.
* Communicate results, risks, recommendations, and open issues.

Required Qualifications
*
* Education:

** A bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering is required.
*
* Experience:

** A minimum of 5 years in performance, scalability, software engineering, or production performance analysis is required, including at least 2 years of hands-on Java development experience.

Experience with performance, scalability, failover, recovery, and resiliency testing is necessary.
** Technical

Skills:

** Deep Core Java knowledge is required, including JVM internals, concurrency, multithreading, memory, garbage collection, and latency. The ability to read source code and diagnose bottlenecks using dumps, logs, profilers, and observability tools is necessary. Experience building workload generators or automation with Java, Scala, Python, shell, JMeter, or Gatling is needed. Knowledge of Linux, databases, application servers, caching, connection pools, distributed systems, and networks is also required.

Experience with Splunk, Grafana, and troubleshooting JVM issues is expected.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with real-time financial or trading systems.
* Knowledge of Google Cloud, Kubernetes, or Docker.
* Experience with AI-assisted analysis, LLM tools, or intelligent automation.
* Familiarity with AI tools within Visual Studio or IntelliJ IDEA.
