Position: Southlake Carroll High School is looking for a head football coach

carroll independent school district, home of the carroll dragons, is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as head football coach for one of texas’ premier uil class 6a football programs. Carroll isd has a long‑standing tradition of excellence, championship‑level expectations, and a community that takes great pride in its athletic programs. The head football coach will be responsible for sustaining and advancing this tradition while prioritizing academic achievement, character development, and student‑athlete well‑being.

this position will coordinate the district football program.

qualifications:
  • bachelor’s degree required (master’s degree preferred)
  • valid texas teaching certification or ability to obtain
  • prior successful head coaching or coordinator experience at the 5a/6a level preferred
  • strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • demonstrated commitment to the values and expectations of a high‑performing 6a program
  • cpr/aed certification (or ability to obtain)
major responsibilites:
  • assist the athletic director in the maintenance and upkeep of the athletic facilities. Schedule all games in coordination with the athletic director and principal
  • select and contract all officials with the assistance of the athletic director.
  • organize all workouts in written form.
  • maintain documentation on inventories, eligibility forms, lettermen jackets, game results, meal requests, official’s selection, bus requisitions, out‑of‑town travel lists, program rosters, final game statistics, and payment authorization forms.
  • ensure appropriate behavior of all athletes participating in the football program.
  • maintain documentation on each football player that consisting of an insurance waiver, eligibility form, birth certificate, athletic participation release/physical form, and rules acknowledgement form, etc.
  • determine the eligibility of all participants in football, complete paperwork necessary, and send to proper authorities to include district chairman, and director of athletics.
  • compile and maintain on file a statement of needs, e.g., equipment, supplies, etc., along with a complete inventory to ensure the securing of essentials for the program operation during the subsequent year.
  • supervise athletes at all times.
  • provide program information as requested by the booster club representative eg, rosters, pictures, etc.
  • assist players capable of playing at the college level in obtaining scholarships/aid.
  • assign football coaches to their specific coaching duties.
  • submit weekly game reports and end‑of‑season reports to the uil.
  • submit a list of names of football players to be scheduled in the athletic period.
  • keep accurate record of any athlete moved out of the athletic period.
  • organize an off‑season athletic program.
  • assist in the organization of the football banquet.
  • coordinate all technical aspects of football with the middle school head football coaches.
  • ensure each athlete has a completed cisd athletic participation release on file with the athletic trainers before participation in any practice both in‑season and out‑of‑season.
  • submit team rosters, practice and game schedules with the athletic trainers and athletic office.
  • keep abreast of innovative practices.
  • be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and procedures.
  • maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district matters.
  • uphold and adhere to safety rules.
  • support the goals and objectives of the district and follow district policies.
  • perform other duties as assigned.
mental demands:

this individual should be a self‑motivated starter; perform tasks with little or no supervision; maintain a proactive attitude when establishing relationships among district personnel; and maintain emotional control under stress.

physical demands/environmental factors:

this position will require approximately 50% walking/standing; 25% sitting and 25% lifting; carrying up to 40 lbs; and stooping/bending.
