Job Purpose

As a dynamic and inspirational people leader, with a background in engineering or manufacturing, the Quality Manager will manage a small team of Quality Professionals and report directly to the General Manager and have a dotted line to Lucy Electric Quality Director.

The role will focus on QA encompassing Customer Complaints & Support, Production Quality & routine Test, Supplier Quality and Design review across all business boundaries but focus upon manufacturing processes within Lucy Electric EV Infrastructure Ltd and the in-and-out inspection of goods/equipment manufactured at other Lucy Electric sites.

The Quality Manager role will have full responsibility for Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, Sustainability & Compliance.

The Quality Manager will be involved in all aspects of the product life cycle so that there is full end-to-end quality included and effectively managed throughout equipment life.

Additional responsibility will be on the timely resolution of Customer Support Incidents (CSI) to ensure that all corrective actions and preventative actions (CAPA) are identified and implemented on a business wide podium.

There is an imperative for proactive collaboration across the entire business in the development and delivery of all aspects of quality, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain operations and customer satisfaction.

Job Dimensions

The role will be based onsite in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire, with possible travel to other Lucy Electric locations, some overseas, for short periods as required.

Key Accountabilities
  • Reporting to the General Manager with a dotted reporting line to the Lucy Electric Group Quality Director and close working with the wider Global Lucy quality team and global factories, suppliers, Engineering teams and Customers.
  • Accountable for working with the Operations Director to produce a quality strategy, identify key goals and initiatives that will enable all quality processes to support the business in gaining competitive advantage and deliver business results.
  • Maintain and drive continuous improvement through BOS and Lean methodologies with regular reviews to assess progress and improvement.
  • Manage and ensure the company’s legal and regulatory environmental compliance.
  • Assume responsibility for Health & Safety responsibility supported by Lucy Electric Global HSE Team.
  • Co-ordinate and maintain legal, regulatory and internal policy compliance by all team members.
  • Champion sustainability and monitor sustainability, SBTi, emissions measurement & net zero reduction (Planet), most importantly customer sustainability requirements & the delivery of a sustainable product into a key sustainability market.
  • Implement Lucy Integrated Management Systems to achieve & maintain certification to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 & 14064.
  • Capture the Cost of Poor Quality from UK manufacture and recharge costs for global COPQ issues.
  • Manage the monthly quality cost centre and budgets; strive to improve the overall financial and key performance indicators of the business.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure their supplies are of the correct quality standards and measure them on their on-time in-full delivery targets.
