About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and skilled Aircraft Cabin Interior Designer to join their team in Soweto . This role is responsible for conceptualizing and developing aesthetically pleasing, functional, and compliant interior designs for aircraft cabins. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and client teams to translate design visions into reality, ensuring passenger comfort, safety, and adherence to aviation standards.

This exciting opportunity combines creative design work with technical application, offering a hybrid work model that allows for on-site design reviews and workshops, complemented by remote conceptualization and detailing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative interior design concepts for aircraft cabins, considering aesthetics, ergonomics, and passenger experience.
  • Create detailed design specifications, renderings, mood boards, and 3D models using industry-standard design software.
  • Select appropriate materials, finishes, and furnishings that meet aviation safety, durability, and weight requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure design feasibility, integration of systems, and compliance with structural and regulatory standards.
  • Present design proposals to clients and internal stakeholders, effectively communicating design intent and rationale.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and emerging technologies in aircraft interior design.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Interior Design, Transportation Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft cabin interior design or a related field within the aerospace industry.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering software (e.g., CATIA, Solid Works, Alias, Key Shot, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong understanding of aircraft interior systems, materials, manufacturing processes, and aviation regulations.
  • Excellent creative vision, aesthetic sensibility, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, comfortable working in a hybrid environment.
