Special Needs Childcare Assistant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and patient Special Needs Childcare Assistant to support children with diverse learning and developmental needs in Soweto. This role is integral to providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where all children can thrive. You will work closely with lead educators and therapists to implement individualized support plans, assist children with daily activities, and facilitate their social and educational engagement.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of special educational needs and a genuine commitment to fostering the development and well-being of every child.

• Provide direct support and assistance to children with special needs in daily activities and learning tasks.
• Implement individualized education and care plans as directed by educators and specialists.
• Assist in creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Facilitate positive social interactions and encourage participation in group activities.
• Observe and document children's progress and report any concerns to the lead teacher or relevant staff.

• Experience working with children with special needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, developmental delays).
• Knowledge of various special education strategies and adaptive techniques.
• Patience, empathy, and strong observational skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Relevant certifications or training in special needs support are highly desirable.
