About the Role
Our client, a well-established secondary school in Soweto , is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Department for Mathematics . This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the teaching and learning of Mathematics across the school, managing the Mathematics department staff, and ensuring high academic standards. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mathematics education, possess strong leadership qualities, and be committed to inspiring students and educators alike in the Gauteng region.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, manage, and inspire the Mathematics department staff, fostering a positive and collaborative teaching environment.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of the Mathematics curriculum in line with national educational standards.
- Monitor teaching and learning activities within the department, ensuring quality instruction and student progress.
- Provide professional development, mentorship, and support to Mathematics teachers.
- Ensure the effective use of resources and facilities within the Mathematics department.
- Liaise with school management, parents, and students on matters related to mathematics education.
- A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field, with a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent.
- A minimum of 7 years of teaching experience in Mathematics, with at least 3 years in a leadership or HOD capacity.
- Proven experience in curriculum development, assessment design, and instructional leadership in Mathematics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate students and staff and improve academic outcomes in Mathematics.
- Thorough understanding of the national curriculum requirements and examination standards for Mathematics.
