About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Civil Engineer focused on Drainage and Stormwater management to join their team in Soweto . This role is integral to designing and implementing effective solutions for urban runoff, flood control, and water quality management. You will work on projects that directly impact the community's resilience and environmental health. The position requires a strong understanding of hydrology and hydraulics, combined with practical design skills.

You will collaborate closely with municipal authorities, other engineers, and construction teams to deliver vital infrastructure improvements. This is an excellent opportunity to specialize in a critical area of civil engineering and contribute to sustainable urban development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design stormwater management systems, including culverts, channels, detention basins, and infiltration systems.
  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses for watershed management and flood risk assessments.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for drainage infrastructure.
  • Develop erosion and sediment control plans for construction sites.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain permits and approvals for drainage projects.
  • Provide technical support during construction to ensure proper implementation of drainage designs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of experience specifically in drainage and stormwater management design.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of hydrology, fluid mechanics, and open channel flow.
  • Familiarity with relevant local and national stormwater regulations.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
