About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Mechanical Engineer - Automation to enhance their industrial processes in Soweto . This role is focused on the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated mechanical systems and machinery. You will play a crucial role in improving operational efficiency, productivity, and safety through the application of advanced automation technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design with a passion for automation, working within a company that is committed to leveraging technology for operational excellence in the Gauteng province.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and integrate automated mechanical systems, including robotic cells, conveyor systems, and custom machinery.
- Specify and select appropriate mechanical components, actuators, sensors, and control systems for automation projects.
- Create detailed CAD models , assembly drawings, and electrical schematics for automated equipment.
- Troubleshoot and maintain existing automated systems, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal performance.
- Collaborate with control engineers, software developers, and operations teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety features for automated machinery to comply with relevant standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design, with a significant focus on industrial automation.
- Proficiency in CAD software and a solid understanding of automation principles and technologies.
- Experience with PLC systems, robotics, and HMI interfaces is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to mechanical and automated systems.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills for effective collaboration in Soweto.
